The Real Greg Wolfe

“Greg Wolfe protected me as I was being attacked on September 27, 2006, while working as a Monroe Township Parks and Rec’s employee. In fact, Greg Wolfe was the only person who came to my aid that night, during the attack. The smear tactics from Greg’s opposition are despicable and untrue.”

Dear Monroe Township Voters,

Today the personal attack began on our political campaign. A mailer is being distributed, directing people to a website, showing me arresting an individual that committed assault in September of 2013. I was off duty, volunteering as a coach for the youth in Monroe Township, and I was summoned by parents to help break up a large fight between individuals at Owens Memorial Park. I was able to alleviate the problem without any further incident and escorted two individuals to an area to await a Monroe Township Patrol Units arrival. While waiting for the police to arrive, another individual, removed her shoe and struck one of the females in the head (assault). I attempted to arrest the individual and ordered the individual to the ground, the individual refused and had to be taken to the ground. The individual attempted to resist arrest and strike me while affecting this lawful arrest. All parties were arrested and charged accordingly and at no time did any of the individuals file any type of complaint against me; however, the incident was captured on video by a Monroe Twp. Parks and Recreation employee who indicated they videoed the incident to protect me. The video was placed into evidence at the Monroe Township Police Department, and ANYONE can view the full police report and video through an Open Public Records Act Request (OPRA). Due to politics, this video is now being circulated.

The mailer being distributed also notes a lawsuit filed against Monroe Township from an individual who was lawfully arrested in September of 2006 where an individual was attacking a woman and the individual was handcuffed behind his back. It was later discovered that the individual allegedly had a prior shoulder injury and was now suggesting that his injury was re-aggravated from being handcuffed behind his back. In most cases, lawsuits are settled for financial reasons as it costs more to defend, then to offer a minimal payment to settle, as in this case. The case never went forward which was unfortunate because it would have shown there was no wrongdoing.

I encourage everyone to review the attached Monroe Township Police Report as well as the link regarding the lawsuit. As you will see, both arrests were warranted, lawful and no wrongdoing occurred at any time. I did not utilize excessive and/or improper force at any time. I stand by my actions regarding both incidents, and I proudly stand by the Monroe Township Police Department.

I decided to get involved in politics to be involved in our community as I have always been involved for many years. Working as a police office, protecting and serving our residents, and being involved in the youth, through coaching basketball, baseball, hockey and football. I was instrumental in recognizing the need for a new football and cheerleading program and spearheaded the initiation of the Monroe Braves Youth Football and Cheerleading Program back in 2003, to give the children of our township an opportunity to play and learn the sports of football and cheerleading while also, SIMPLY HAVING FUN!

Since I have been involved in politics, as always, I have stood up to the people that try to intimidate, bully, threaten and cause harm to others. I have challenged and called out individuals involved in politics for their wrongdoing, such as people who have been politically appointed to volunteer positions and were receiving free health care benefits costing rate payers hundreds of thousands of dollars, while hired fulltime employees had to pay for their benefits. I stood up to individuals excessively billing Monroe Township who were politically appointed by the Mayor as well as elected officials who are conflicted and remain voting on issues they shouldn’t be because they received jobs with professionals and or affiliated with certain groups that reap benefits.

Now that most of these individuals and their political careers and/ or politically appointed positions are coming to an end, they have decided to make every attempt to smear and tarnish my twenty-five and a half year, decorated police career, with false allegations. These individuals are bitter, upset and mad that an everyday person, stood up to them, called them out and exposed their nonsense. This attack is a slap in the face to me, my family and the entire Law Enforcement community, especially the Monroe Township Police Department!

As always, I will be transparent. Here is the link of the Monroe Township Police Report for everyone to view. I have also attached a the link regarding the lawsuit that was filed against Monroe Township.

Please don’t allow these selfish individuals who have already worked their way into the higher-ranking Gloucester County Republican Party to succeed on election Day. They want to ensure that when they are done taking advantage of the Monroe Township residents, they will now move onto taking advantage of all Gloucester County residents by being appointed at the County level.

On November 8th, 2022 VOTE Column A, Wolfe for Mayor, O’Reilly, Adams & Heverly for Council as well as DeCarlo and Demarco for Gloucester County Commissioner and Hogan for County Clerk. Monroe Township depends on it, as there will be a personal attack coming from the County Republicans against Monroe Township, like we have never seen before, because these individuals were voted out of Monroe Township.

Thank you for your time.

Gregory A. Wolfe

Monroe Township Council President

Mayoral Candidate
